We spent the next two days sailing towards New Zealand and Milford Sound. We were surprised by how smooth it was cruising across bass Strait.
The cabin and cabin service has also been very good, especially with heavy blackout curtains that can keep the room in almost complete darkness – especially important if you are on the eastern side at dawn,so we occupied ourselves with playing cards, jigsaws, Scrabble, exercise and Tai Chi.
A plus for me was hosting ad-hoc Tai Chi classes on board, which have started with 2-5 people and ended up with 20 or more. I've also met another instructor called Renae Convery so we've been running the classes together.

The sailing was pretty uneventful, giving us time to get used to shipboard life, orientating ourselves within the ship, feeding times, venues, activities and the general flow of life on board. The food has been reasonable, both in the free a la carte restaurants and the buffet which has a huge variety of foods to suit most tastes. The paying restaurants tend to have more meat and seafood on offer however.
We tried "Chin Chin" the Chinese style restaurant and were surprised that there were no Asian passengers there. We understood why after the meal - not so good.
