Days 2 & 3 - At Sea

Our group in Tsar's Restaurant
The cruise itself was fine, of course it's difficult to resist the all-you-can-eat buffets.

We also met up with our friends, Wayne and Jane and their friends Tina and Shawn. We've had dinner with them in a couple of a la carte restaurants which is much nicer than the buffets, but the service was been pretty slow and awful - at least we got to spend a loonnngggg time over dinner.

We've also had our first taste of drinks prices, $9 for the daily cocktail ($12 normally) and $35 for a bottle of wine, in US dollars - this translates to AUS$11-$15 and AUS$43 for a bottle of wine!

The interior design of the ship is a bit like an RSL club, colourful, shiny and an acquired taste.

We also enjoyed some of the on-board entertainment, especially a singing/dance performance where the artists really put their hearts and (extremely well-buffed) bodies into it.

I started running ad-hoc Tai Chi classes in one of the activity areas.

Even though the classes started with only 2-3 people, other passengers joined in as well. Eventually there was a regular group practicing together each day.

I was actually writing and posting this, sitting uncomfortably on a park bench in Melbourne, our first stop, using free WiFi. The on-board internet is prohibitively expensive - as is the booze.

Next stop the west coast of New Zealand.
